Why I dance

WHY I DANCE

First of all, the reason why I started dancing is because I’m just doing what I want to do the most, which is quite easy but at the same time is not. Although I have been aware of the importance of doing something that I have taken seriously, I have not really done it. It could be the proof that either am I literally lazy or the surroundings have been tough.

Apparently, even if either way, I somehow got over it, which I am really proud of myself. Subsequently, all of a sudden, good things have just turned up in my life. For example, all I can say is that I’m valuing my life more seriously, which is the main point that leads to the all good things including eating less, moving forward more actively and vividly, and having good mindset for people and diversity. Surely, there is the reason why just dancing makes me nearly changed in some way.

So, I would like to clarify the benefits that dancing has got. Subjectively speaking, the first impression I had when I faced the performance of a modern dancer is that he blew my mind. So impressive was this that I wasn’t able to literally live up to what I was supposed to do back then. Before I met modern dance, I had only thought that music or painting is the best way to deliver human being’s emotions and thoughts. I was, however, enlightened by the dancer. My mind changed saying that I was really ignorant about dancing. Furthermore, dancing turned out to be by far the nearest way of approaching a person’s mind because it isn’t filtered by any tools such as pens, brushes, and musical instruments. All we can use is our bodies. There is nothing to express except your body. It allows you only focus on you.

Therefore, the first benefit I would like to point out is, the more you dance, the more genuinely you can know who you are throughout the moves you make. These are your own things and could be possibly yourself! From my point of view, in terms of mind, if you didn’t give up finding who you are, your mind would definitely be close to ‘something’ that is unknown, unchangeable, irreducible, and irreplaceable. This constitutes your good will and leads you to find out the genuine thing further and further. Most importantly, it allows you not to succumb to all of fallacies that people generally accept without considering seriously. (This writing has been way a lot longer that I expected it would be.)

There is likelihood that you will acquire things in a better and more profound way.

The second benefit that springs up to mind is that you will be liberated! Absolutely.

When you dance, you can feel free like electricity, referring to Billy Elliot. I feel like I am only one in a huge stadium, performing the moves that express who I am at the moment.

It is amazingly liberating. I found some reasons why it is like this. In terms of our bodies, we have been prevented from existing how we are. We have always had to comfort the standard of body that is regarded as a perfect body, such as a slim-fit for women, and muscular body for men. We have had to feel kind of guilty or shame because of our bodies, which is insanely stressful. Dancing can liberate you from all the expectations you are supposed to meet.

All in all, it is absolutely worth giving dancing a try. After all, by far the most crucial thing that I have to keep in mind is CONSISTENCY, CONSISTENCY, CONSISTENCY!
